BYU Cougars Target Top Recruit Bode Sparrow in Huge Recruiting Weekend

BYU Cougars are gearing up for a huge recruiting weekend, with their sights set on Bode Sparrow, the No. 1 player in the state of Utah. Sparrow, an Under Armour All-American from Kaysville's Davis High, is ranked as an athlete, playing both wide receiver and defensive back. He has put up impressive numbers in high school, catching 83 passes for 1,218 yards and 16 touchdowns as a junior. On defense, he has 16 interceptions over the past two years, including two pick-sixes. Sparrow is leaning toward playing defense at the collegiate level. BYU coach Kalani Sitake will have to convince Sparrow to commit to the Cougars, as he has already made official visits to Oklahoma, Oregon, and Utah. The Sooners are considered the heavy favorite to land Sparrow. And with only six commitments so far, the Cougars need a big weekend to boost their recruiting rankings. Brody Rudnick, a quarterback from Folsom, California, is one of the other top prospects visiting Provo. Rudnick will be joined by Uhila Wolfgramm, an edge from Spanish Fork, Utah, and Christian Hanshaw, a tight end from American Fork, Utah. So, the Cougars have a lot to gain from this weekend's recruiting visits. BYU is currently ranked 98th in the 2027 Rivals recruiting rankings, but a commitment from Sparrow could be a huge boost. The Rivals comparison for Sparrow is former Utah defensive back Cole Sharp, who was a second-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. Sparrow's athletic ability is evident, as he is also an all-state point guard. But the Cougars will have to wait and see if they can land this top recruit. The visitors' list also includes Peyton Higginson, an athlete from Salem Hills, Utah, and Moa Brown, an edge from Draper, Utah. Lakepa Satuala, an athlete from Bountiful, Utah, and Owen Leishman, an athlete from Millville, Utah, will also be visiting. Kamoni Adams, an athlete from Marietta, Georgia, and Jaxson Rex, an athlete from San Clemente, California, round out the list. Kyle Nabrotzky, an offensive lineman from Brentwood, Tennessee, will also be making an official visit.
